Ukrainian Defense Minister and Army General, Stepan Poltorak, stated that 623 Ukrainian servicemen have been killed or wounded in 2016, a statement by the Defense Ministry's press service reads.

Nearly 30,000 Ukrainians have enlisted in the army this year
More than 29,500 people have enlisted and signed contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the beginning of 2016. Of this amount, 3,000 are officers. This was reported by the press center of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Poroshenko: Ukraine spends one fifth of its budget on the Army
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that one fifth of the state budget is spent on the defense sector, RBC-Ukraine reported.
“Almost one fifth of the state budget we spend on Army and that’s justified,” Poroshenko stated.
