Turkish Deputy PM: Russian and the US may enter into direct confrontation
Recent events in the Middle East have shown that the US and Russia could end up confronting each other militarily, thus, to prevent this it’s necessary to form a new balance of power between stakeholders, and Turkey can play a key role, said Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş, as reported by Turkish news agency Anadolu.
According to him, the attempts by a number of powers to ensure supremacy in Syria by supporting individual groups are hopeless. "If the current process continues, very soon, Russia and the United States will enter into direct confrontation. This can be avoided only by the formation of a new balance of power. The road to this lies through cooperation with Turkey,” said Kurtulmush, adding that Turkey was the most beneficial partner for the United States and Russia in terms of their interests in the Middle East.
The Turkish Deputy Prime Minister also noted that ISIS is cooperating with the regime of Bashar al-Assad. "We know exactly who is arming the terrorists," added Kurtulmush.
"Washington must make the right choice between the terrorists and their ally Turkey with a strong army and powerful resources," concluded the Deputy Prime Minister.
