Russian Navy to receive new nuclear submarine in December
On October 30, TASS reported that the third submarine of Project 11356 Admiral Makarov, which is being built on the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad, will be transferred to the navy in December. This was reported by Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Vladimir Korolev.
“In December another nuclear submarine of strategic project Borey for the submarine forces of the Russian navy will be laid on the enterprise Sevmash, and a frigate of Project 11356 Admiral Makarov will be commissioned to the navy,” he said, speaking to the participants of a ceremony marking the occasion of the 320th anniversary of the Russian fleet in the Senate Square.
The construction of the new ships and submarines for the fleet will continue, Korolev said. He noted that in November the navy will receive the sixth submarine from Project 636.3 Varshavyanka.
Korolev also said that about 100 ships and vessels from the Russian navy are on duty in different areas of the world’s oceans.
“About 100 ships today carry out their tasks in distant ocean and marine zones, continuing more than three centuries of the glorious history of the Russian navy,” he said.
