Five months after the mass deportation, Russian authorities issued more than 4,600 removal orders for Georgians, of which 2,300 were detained and forcibly deported while the rest left the country at their own expense.

On April 1, 2015, the list of deportees was provided to the European Court. The following month, the Georgian Ministry of Justice brought its case to the European Court of Human Rights and demanded compensation.
