Ukraine and Azerbaijan are planning joint production of An-178 aircraft
The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, stated in an interview during his visit to Baku that Ukraine and Azerbaijan are going to launch the joint production of AN-178 transport aircraft, 112 Ukraine reported.
“As Ilham Aliyev has said, one of the most promising topics is the supply of AN-178 transport aircraft to Azerbaijan and the joint production of these aircraft in Azerbaijan. The successful implementation of this project will allow Ukrainian manufacturers to create an environment for the active development of new markets,” Poroshenko stated.
In addition, the Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan expressed the need for an increase in trade between the two countries.
“We gave very strict instructions and I have no doubts that our countries will become even closer and trade between them will be increased as a result of the implementation of these instructions. Ukraine and Azerbaijan aren’t satisfied with the level of trade yet,” Aliyev said. The President of Azerbaijan also stated that a program on developing joint investment projects was also created during the negotiations.
“Also, the opportunity to once again consider the investment potential of both countries was offered as there is a mutual interest in this issue,” Aliyev noted.
Aliyev reported that the Azerbaijani company, Socar, is actively working in the Ukrainian market and has already invested $200 million in Ukraine by opening more than 60 gas stations in the country.
Poroshenko also noted that he sees good prospects in cooperating with Azerbaijan in the fuel and energy sector.”We have discussed the prospects of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector separately. We discussed harnessing the resource potential of Azerbaijan and the transit potential of Ukraine,” the President of Ukraine said.
According to him, specific projects concerning the participation of Azerbaijani investors in the Ukrainian fuel and energy market and the availability to ship Azerbaijani energy resources to European markets were discussed. “We are sure that the discussion regarding the implementation of the New Silk Road project will be fruitful,” Poroshenko added.
