Ukraine's natural gas production increases by 2 percent
Natural gas production in Ukraine during the period of January-July 2016, according to latest information, has increased by almost 2% (223.3 million cubic meters) compared to the same period of 2015 when this volume reached 11 .7 billion cubic meters.
According to PJSC (Public Joint Stock Company) Ukrtransgaz, those figures include July-2016 gas production that amounted to 1.69 billion, which is 3.7% more than July of last year (1.63 billion cubic meters).
In July this year gas production of PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya amounted to 1.214 billion cubic meters. PJSC Ukrnafta accounted for 109.4 million cubic meters of that volume while other companies contributed 365.6 million cubic meters of gas.
As reported, Ukraine in 2015 reduced its production of gas by 1.4% or 274 million cubic meters compared to 2014, which saw an output of 19.896 billion cubic meters. The constituent companies of Naftogaz (the national oil and gas company of Ukraine) reduced production by 4.9% (823 million cubic meters) to 16.032 billion cubic meters while other companies have increased volume by 16.6% (549 million cubic meters) to a cumulative 3.864 billion cubic meters.
Ukrtransgaz, which is 100% owned by Naftogaz of Ukraine operates a system of major gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storage facilities in the country with a total capacity of 31 billion cubic meters.
