Russia: no sanctions will intimidate us
RIA Novosti reports that Leonid Slutsky, Head of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Relations, told journalists on Friday that new US sanctions are another destructive step aggravating the state of Russian-American relations.
"New US sanctions are a destructive step that aggravates relations between Russia and the United States. It is clear that Washington seeks to achieve its own geopolitical goals, unfair competition and to gain an advantage in global markets," Slutsky said.
In turn, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Sergey Neverov called the US sanctions against Russia “unprecedented pressure”.
"Russia has coped with the consequences of the unprecedented pressure that has been born upon it, thanks to a strong president [Putin]. Russia has huge potential and, gradually - we see it already in the 2018 budget - we will once again come to economic growth. No sanctions will intimidate us,” declared Neverov.
The US Treasury extended sanctions against Russia over the situation in Ukraine.
