Ukrainian policeman who shot a 'fan of Stalin' received reward weapon
Police Lieutenant Roman Danylenko received an honorable distinction for courage in action and his partner, Staff Sergeant Volodymyr Khlevnyi, received the same honorable distinction and a reward weapon.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, rewarded police officers in Odessa who shot pro-Russian activist, Valentyn Doroshenko, as reported by Dumskaya on Saturday, 27 January.
“Crew commander, police Lieutenant Roman Danylenko received an honorable distinction for his brave actions and those of his partner, Staff Sergeant Volodymyr Khlevnyi, who shot the killer, the same honorable distinction and reward weapon,” the statement says.
On 19 January in Odessa, there was an exchange of gunfire during the arrest of a criminal. As a result, the criminal was killed and one of the policemen was fatally wounded. Two police officers and one member of the “municipal security” force were also injured.
The victim turned out to be “a fan of Stalin” and a known pro-Russian activist in Odessa, Valentyn Doroshenko. Police later found materials to produce weapons at his apartment.
