Ukrainian Border Guards find Expired Food in Humanitarian Convoy from Russia
Today, Russia undertook the unilateral registration of the 49th so-called humanitarian convoy. According to the State Border Service, two humanitarian assistance convoys, consisting of 101 vehicles, passed through the Russian crossing points at Donetsk and Matveev Kurgan and entered Ukraine between 5:55 am and 6:50 am.
"The convoy was monitored by the Ukrainian Inter-ministerial group, but only by means of visual observation and without implementation of any control measures as the movement of the humanitarian assistance convoy occurred with grave violations of international and domestic law as well as protocols in agreement with the International Committee of the Red Cross," the Agency noted.
According to border guards, all trucks were only about one-third full. The most notable feature of this convoy was the inconsistent documentation regarding the nature of the cargo from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"In particular, books of unknown content, industrial power plant machinery, generators, and construction and electrical tools weren’t specified in the documentation. Another peculiarity of this humanitarian convoy was that it contained cans of expired fish and meat marked with a production date of 2012. The marking "fragile cargo, don’t turn" was placed on the boxes containing the canned meat. Moreover, the Russians refused to provide information about the content of the books which were being transported," the State Border Service reported.
