Duma Deputy from Yaroslavl fined for placing plaque in memory of Nemtsov
The Deputy of the Yaroslavl Regional Duma, Vasyl Tsependa, was fined 500 rubles for the installation of the plaque on the house where Boris Nemtsov lived in the Russian city of Yaroslavl. Tsepeda intends to appeal the decision in court.
A fine was imposed after the conclusion of the Commission on the Consideration of Administrative Offences of the Kirov and Lenin Districts of Yaroslavl. "Initially the authorities said that we illegally erected a memorial and now that we illegally installed an informational sign. When I filed the decision of the apartment`s owners, they said that the proper protocol was not followed as a special form was not provided. I will challenge the decision on the penalty," he said.
"The penalty was imposed for infringement of the rules regarding information postings," the head of the Administration of the Kirov and Lenin Districts of Yaroslavl, Oleksandr Belozerov, said. According to him, the Deputy did not follow the proper protocol in submitting the decision of the homeowners to the City Administration. A plaque on the house where Boris Nemtsov lived (Trefoleva Street in Yaroslavl) was installed on the anniversary of the murder of the opposition politician on the 27th of February, 2016.
A street or a square will be named after Nemtsov in Vilnius. In Kiev, in honor of Nemtsov, a street will be renamed the Povitroflotskyi (Air-Navy) Avenue. Moscow authorities refused the idea to perpetuate the memory of the politician.
Investigators believe that the murder of Nemtsov was planned, but who initiated it and the reason for the murder is still unclear.
Five people were arrested in connection with the murder; the Deputy Commander of the Chechen Police Battalion "North", Zaur Dadaev, the cousins, Anzor and Shadid Gubachevy, Khamzat Bakhaev and Timur Eskerkhanov. Ruslan Muhudinov is suspected in the direct organization of the crime. He was the driver of the former officer of the Chechen Battalion "North", Ruslan Geremeev. Geremeev and Muhudinov have been declared internationally wanted; however, they are both likely living abroad.
