Germany allocates 8 million euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine

The Federal Government of Germany allocated 8 million euros for humanitarian activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Ukraine, primarily to help Donbas citizens, as reported by the press-service of the German Embassy in Ukraine.

"The aid is provided within the project ICRC Assistance, Protection, Prevention and Cooperation Activities in Ukraine 2016-2017. Germany has already allocated 7 million euros once this year to support the project. Now they decided to increase the financing by another 1 million euro,” the statement reads.

The Embassy issued a reminder that in 2015, Germany funded humanitarian activities of the ICRC in Ukraine in the amount of 3 million euros.

The activities of the ICRC in eastern Ukraine cover the following areas: medical assistance, treatment of psychological trauma, support of healthcare facilities, prevention activities, provision of food and personal hygiene supplies, water supply, training for health and maintenance personnel, searches for missing persons, family reunification and information-gathering on threats in the form of mines and remnants of warfare and so on.
