Kremlin Finds US's Words On Corruption In Russia 'Insulting'
Statements of the representatives of US authorities on the corruption of Russian President Vladimir Putin have been found “insulting” by the Kremlin. Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed that such remarks constitute interference with the presidential campaign to be held in 2018.
Moscow accused Washington of interfering in an electoral campaign that has not yet even begun. Peskov said on Friday, January 29th that "insulting and indignant statements" made by the official representative of the White House about the Russian President were intended to denigrate the Head of the country before the 2018 elections are held. "We see that overseas preparations for our elections have been started. It is clear that negative remarks against our President will be used to put pressure and influence on the future election campaign,” said Peskov.
On the same day, during a phone conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his outrage at the accusations about Russian leadership, as reported by the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier, deputies of US Treasurer Adam Shubin accused the Russian President of corruption in the documentary "Putin’s Secret Riches.” White House press secretary Josh Earnest stated that there are no better words to demonstrate the American administration’s point of view.
