Medvedev: Russia's military-industrial output has increased by 10 percent
The Russian military-industrial production indices have increased by 10%, according to 2016 results, as indicated by the head of the Russian Government, Dmitry Medvedev, on January 31st, according to TASS.
"In general, according to preliminary results, we expect an increase in the pace of production to grow by more than 10% based on 2016 production," Medvedev said, adding that he considered this to be a good result.
According to Medvedev, the results of the defense order show that Russia "is on the right track".
"This applies to weapons, military equipment, and special equipment," the Russian Prime Minister emphasized. At the same time, Medvedev said that it was important in that the modernization of the defense industry can also affect other enterprises and industries.
The head of the Kremlin-controlled government of the Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, said on January 19th that Crimean industrial enterprises have completed work on state defense orders in the amount of 21 billion rubles ($348.6 million at 1 RUB = 0.0166 USD) in 2016. According to him another 8.5 billion rubles ($141.1 million) are already contracted for the current year.
