Plotnitsky orders creation of working group for negotiations with Savchenko
Plotnitsky offered to hold a meeting in the occupied territory.
The leader of the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR,) Igor Plotnitsky, ordered the establishment of a workgroup to hold negotiations with a member of the Ukrainian parliament, Nadiya Savchenko, as reported by the separatist website, Luhansk Information Center.
"It’s not a secret that Savchenko asked and continues to ask for a meeting. I’ve already tried to explain that nobody is against talking about peace issues. But she must have special status for that. But on the other hand she is a Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a member of PACE and so on...," Plotnitsky said.
He offered to establish a workgroup within two days to hold negotiations, and that the meeting with Savchenko will be held in the occupied territory. According to him, the individuals who captured Savchenko will be also involved in the meeting.
"She wrote that she is ready to meet with those who fought. We have a group among our deputies which took part in the very fight where she was captured. I think that a deputy group consisting of three people should be established. In principle, we can talk to each other as deputy to deputy if a person wants to find compromise and solve a problem peacefully. It may be just at the deputy level now but if she has a state status, we will hold negotiations at the national level," Plotnitsky said.
Plotnitsky instructed the establishment of a workgroup within two days and offered to hold a meeting with Savchenko in the occupied territory.
"If she wants to come here, we will guarantee her security," the leader of the so-called LPR added.
Savchenko offered to hold direct negotiations with the so-called DPR and LPR. She stated that the dialogue with separatists needs to begin and both parties to the conflict will have to forgive each other in order to achieve peace in eastern Ukraine. After that the leader of the LPR, Plotnitsky, called Savchenko a single-peacemaker who does not have her own team or formal authority. At the same time he supported the establishment of a deputy group "for peace and dialogue in the Donbas," which according to him will be "a moment of truth for the Kyiv regime."
On 25 May 2016 Savchenko was exchanged for two Russian servicemen Evgeny Erofeev and Alexander Alexandrov. She spent about two years in captivity.
