Pro-Russian separatists attack Ukrainian positions near Avdiivka
On March 27th, pro-Russian separatists attempted to overtake the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Avdiivka in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, as reported by the press center of the Ukrainian Military.
According to the report, separatists initiated the attack, and Ukrainian forces returned fire.
"As a result of the combat, the sabotage and reconnaissance enemy group, that consisted of six fighters, retreated. There are no casualties among the ATO military [Ukrainian Armed Forces], the number of enemy casualties still has to be confirmed," the statement read.
Overall, according to the press center, pro-Russian separatists fired against Ukrainian positions 18 times during a 24-hour period.
"In the direction of Mariupol, the ATO positions near Novotroitske were shelled by anti-tank guided missiles, and from a 120 caliber, four shots were fired. Also in this direction the pro-Russian gangs were firing from small arms at the Ukrainian servicemen in Shirokino and Taramchuka," the Defense Ministry reported.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces headquarters reported that Ukrainian servicemen returned fire using small arms, which are allowed by the Minsk Agreements.
On March 26th, four Ukrainian soldiers were injured in the Donbas, but there were no fatalities.
