Russia threatened Kyiv with retaliatory measures for the blockade of the Donbas
The permanent representative of Russia to the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine, Boris Gryzlov, stated that Ukrainian authorities should take measures to cease the blockade of the occupied territories of the Donbas.
“Today, on the eve of the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group, I urge Kyiv to take immediate effective measures to stop the transport and economic blockade of the Donbas,” Gryzlov said in his interview with journalists. According to him, Ukraine is allowing the expanding transport blockade. “The actions aimed at economic and social isolation will inevitably lead to retaliatory measures,” Boris Gryzlov noted.
“The Donbas isn’t an enclave and it isn’t an island. We can’t allow a humanitarian and socio-economic catastrophe in these territories, the population of which exceeds the population of a number of European countries,” Gryzlov added.
