Survey suggests 74 percent of Russians are ready to vote for Putin
According to a public opinion survey, 74% of Russians are ready to vote for Putin in the presidential elections. This data was provided by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (RPORC).
This is the highest percentage of support that Putin has received in the last four years. He only received 40% in October 2012.
In January, only 15% of the respondents had said that they would not support him in 2018. In 2012, this amount was 39%.
The RPORC noted that his support varies among the different layers of society. The survey showed that 80% of high-income citizens would vote for him, 71% of youth supported him while 81% of residents of large cities would vote for him.
In addition, there was an increase in the amount of Russians who say that Putin has fulfilled his 2012 election campaign promises.
Since the beginning of 2013, the amount of people who believed that he kept these promises increased from 16% to 37%.
The survey stated that 47% of Russians believe that Putin managed to partially fulfill his promises, but that most of these promises had not been realized yet.
The data also shows that 8% of the respondents believe that Putin has totally failed to fulfill his promises.
A previous survey done by the Levada Center showed that the approval ratings of Putin had decreased from 88% to 81% from October 2015.
