The Pentagon reiterated that it has no intention of cooperating with Russia in the fight against terrorists in Syria
The press secretary of the US Department of Defense, Peter Cook, stated at the regular briefing for journalists that the United States has no intention of cooperating with Russia in airstrikes on terrorist positions in Syria. “Currently, we have no intention to cooperate with Russia in this direction,” Peter Cook noted, speaking about joint airstrikes on militants.
Representatives of the US administration previously stated that such operations are impossible after the suspension of agreements on the resolution of the Syrian crisis by Washington. The agreements were reached by the US secretary of state, John Kerry, and the minister of foreign affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov.
According to the document, Moscow and Washington had to create a Joint Executive Center that would coordinate the airstrikes from both countries on the Islamic State and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as Jabhat Al-Nusra, in Syria. The US media report that President-elect of the United States Donald Trump can resume these agreements after his inauguration on January 20.
