Sputnik's Twitter account was hacked
After having gained access to the account at about 9 a.m. Moscow time, hackers changed the design of Sputnik's Twitter account, and changed the user name to Matt Curtis. However, hackers haven’t done anything else yet — there have not been any new tweets by Sputnik.
Sputnik’s press service promptly sent a request to Twitter’s technical support, but have not received a reply yet. They have not yet been able to restore the account to its usual status. Sputnik’s press service confirmed the attack on their Twitter account.
"We confirm that Sputnik International's Twitter account was hacked. Sputnik's editorial staff has contacted Twitter's administration. We ask users not to trust any possible messages sent from the hacked account. Sputnik is taking all possible measures to regain control of the account," the press service noted.
Earlier, NBC reported that American hackers working for the Government broke into the Russian infrastructure and "the Kremlin’s command systems," making them vulnerable for attack if the U.S.A. decides to do so.
