Russian minister: Moscow is willing to lift sanctions if the EU does the same

Russian Minister of Economic Development Alexey Ulyukayev stated that Russia is determined to lift the mutual sanctions with the European Union. However, the European partners themselves have not yet demonstrated good will regarding this issue.

“The best proposal would be a mutual refusal from these restrictions. We would welcome it but unfortunately, our partners, including European partners, have not demonstrated the proper good will,” Ulyukayev said at the meeting with Italian entrepreneurs, as RIA Novosti reports.

The minister noted that there are no restrictions between the countries in relation to vehicles, clothes and furniture. “There are restrictions imposed on the import of agricultural products and raw materials. Probably, they are quite significant,” Ulyukayev added. He noted that the Italian government has a more positive attitude towards this issue than other partners.

“But we realize that the EU has a responsibility to discipline members. We respect the existing rules and order. That’s why we have to find a solution under the present circumstances,” Ulyukayev said.

Earlier the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, stated that there is no need to ease their sanctions against the countries that imposed sanctions against Russia.
