Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs: relations with Russia remain in deep crisis
At the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Warsaw ,the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jacek Czaputowicz believes that relations with Russia are still in deep crisis, Polish radio reports.
According to Czaputowicz, "there were no elements that would justify a change in the Alliance's position". Under the so-called Warsaw Compromise, NATO pursues a policy of consistent deterrence against Russia while maintaining its readiness to hold talks.
Czaputowicz added that the recent use of chemical weapons on the territory of Great Britain clearly did not help change policy towards Russia.
The Foreign Minister of Poland stressed that in conversations with Russia, "we cannot ignore the topics that are inconvenient to them, such as the annexation of the Crimea, the war in the Donbas or the return of the wreckage of the Polish Tu-154 aircraft that crashed near Smolensk.
Czaputowicz also stated that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is the most important reference point for Poland's security policy. He added that Poland is the only European Union country to border both the aggressor and the victim of this aggression.
In its report, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly laid the responsibility for human rights violations in Ukraine and Georgia on Russia.
