Poland warns EU of negative consequences if criticism against them continues
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the excess of criticism from the EU on Poland's justice reforms could lead to negative consequences, as he stated at a meeting with the Chairman of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels, DW reported.
Poland also cautioned the European Union against increasing pressure on Warsaw, as this, according to Morawiecki, can strengthen the country's support for populists that seek to weaken or destroy the EU.
It is noted that the main topic of negotiations between Morawiecki and Juncker were the probable EU sanctions against Poland, the imposition of which was recently supported by the European Parliament. The reason for this is the scandalous justice reforms which have been carried out by the Polish Government of the national-conservators, formed by the Law and Justice party.
Brussels believes that this reform will result in the collapse of democractic principles and the rule of law in Poland, because now, according to critics, the Polish government will be able to influence the courts. The Polish opposition and public activists also criticize the reforms.
