Deputy marshal of Polish parliament banned entry to Russia

Russia has banned Malgorzata Gosiewska, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of Poland, from entering the country.

Gosiewska learned this on Sunday, September 29, while crossing the Polish-Belarusian border, Polish Radio reports.

“Crossing my border took longer than usual. They also informed me that they are not happy with me and, more specifically, that I am banned from entering Russia. It’s not clear why Belarusian border guards informed me of this,” the deputy marshal explained.

She also said that she felt like she was being “treated differently” in Belarus. The border guards even wanted to inspect her luggage, despite the fact that she had arrived in the car belonging to the Polish consulate general in Grodno.

Gosiewska actively supported the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine right from the beginning. Following Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the start of the war in the Donbas, she has sharply criticized Russia’s actions.

In 2016, Gosiewska submitted a report on Russia’s crimes in the Donbas in 2014 to the International Criminal Court in the Hague.

In February 2017, she visited Avdiivka, which had been severely bombarded by Russia-backed separatists from the “Donetsk People’s Republic” the day before.

In August Russia also denied entry to US senators who have supported Ukraine.
