Prague accuses Russia of trying to destroy the Czech Republic

Director of the Czech Security Information Service (BIS) Michal Koudelka said during an international conference “Current Security Threats” that the Russian special services intend to destroy the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance, and especially the Czech Republic.

“The main problem is posed by spies from the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service and the Main Intelligence Directorate, who are very active and aggressive,” said the Director of the BIS. He asserted that “agents of Russian special services” work in the embassy, as well as in other structures. “All these services have great potential, with technical and financial resources. Russian intelligence services can listen to any of us,” said Koudelka.

He added that Chinese spies worked in the Czech Republic not long ago. According to Koudelka, Chinese agents are interested in military technical information. They are “striving to influence the Czech political arena.” He also added that “Chinese intelligence services are very tough and uncompromisingly used members of the Chinese diaspora in the targeted country through their families living in China.”

Koudelka has been the head of the Czech Security and Information Service for ten years. He was an intern at the Secret Intelligence Service of the United Kingdom Foreign Ministry (MI-6) and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.

Czech President Zeman has consistently criticized anti-Russian sanctions, as well as the policy of any other sanctions.
