Putin says he was not invited to the Normandy Four meeting in June
Russian President, Vladimir Putin, said that nobody discussed the possibility of holding Normandy Four format leaders meeting in June with the Russian side, and there are no such negotiations in his working schedule, reports TASS.
“I don’t know anything about this. Nobody discussed it with us. There is no such meeting in my work schedule,” said Putin commenting on the Petro Poroshenko's statement about his plans to meet the leaders of the Norman Four in June.
Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, earlier stated that the President of the Russian Federation schedule “does not envisage a meeting of the Normandy Four in June 2019”. "Currently, there are no such plans," he said.
Last week, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that it is too early to talk about convening a meeting in the Normandy format because "we must wait until the current phase of the internal political process in Ukraine is completed and the president is elected."
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated that the Normandy Four leaders meeting could be held in June, during the celebration of the anniversary of the arrival of the anti-Hitler coalition members in Normandy.
On April 12, after his meetings with the German Chancellor in Berlin and French President in Paris, President Poroshenko announced that France and Germany agreed to a Normandy format meeting after the elections in Ukraine.
