Russia deploys fourth division of S-400 missile systems in Crimea
Russia has deployed the fourth division of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems in the Crimea. It has assumed combat duty in Dzhankoy, in the north of the peninsula, writes TASS with reference to the press service of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.
"Today, in Dzhankoy, combat teams of the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems from the air defense unit of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District have assumed combat duty on the Crimea’s air defense," the statement reads.
“The Crimea is completely protected from the impact of enemy’s air attack weapons from all directions with a range of up to 400 km," commented the commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Southern Military District, Viktor Sevostyanov.
The system is capable of striking air targets within up to 400 kilometers distance, as well as ballistic targets at a range of up to 60 kilometers.
The first division of the S-400 Triumph air defense system went on combat duty in the anti-aircraft missile Sevastopol-Feodosia guards regiment in 2016. In early 2017, it was used in the Feodosia area.
The second division assumed combat duty in January 2018 near Sevastopol. The third division of the S-400 anti-aircraft systems took up combat duty in September 2018 near Yevpatoriya.
