Turchynov: Ukraine developed new powerful weapon not available in Russian army
Ukraine has developed a new powerful weapon, a self-propelled howitzer with a 155-mm caliber, which meets the NATO standards. Tests of this new weapon, have already begun, reported by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov during his visit to the Ukrainian Armed Forces training facility in Zhytomyr.
“Its important characteristics include greater mobility, accuracy, range, and also high firing speed,” said Turchynov.
According to him, the howitzer, which “has a NATO 155-mm caliber” uses special ammunition and can hit targets from a distance of 60 kilometers.
“Weapons of this caliber were not present in our Army. These kinds of weapons were not in the Soviet army, nor are they present in the modern Russian army,” said Turchynov.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council added that not only the gun control system, but also the manufacturing technology in the Ukrainian defense enterprises meets the NATO standard.
“The weapon received a fitting maiden name- “Bogdana,” and I suggest the enemies of Ukraine remember this name,” summed up Turchynov.
The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko during the launch of a new production site for the manufacture of artillery shells of large calibers in Kyiv, stated that the government would soon be ready to produce mass quantities of ammunition that is currently scarcely available for the Armed Forces.
