Ukraine, Poland and USA sign gas memorandum
Ukraine, Poland and the United States signed a Memorandum of Tripartite Cooperation in the Energy Sector, announced the Secretary of the Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Danylyuk on his on Facebook page .
“At a meeting with US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, which preceded the signing of the Memorandum, we discussed the importance of diversifying the risks posed by the dependence on Russian gas supplies for both Ukraine and Poland. One of the steps to ensure the energy independence of our state will be to ensure the supplies of liquefied natural gas through Poland. For this purpose, a specialized interconnector has been built that will unite our gas transit systems, ” Oleksandr Danylyuk wrote.
The representative of the Polish government for strategic energy infrastructure Peter Naimsky noted that the gas supplies to Ukraine from Poland will open after the expansion of the gas port in Hermanowice and the construction of the Baltic Pipe gs pipeline in 2022.
“In 2021, we will be able to supply significant volumes of gas to Ukraine, this will be 6 billion cubic meters per year,” Dziennik.pl quoted Naimsky as saying.
At the same time, he emphasized that this would become possible after the construction of a 110 km long gas pipeline section in Ukraine, which would allow delivering fuel from Poland.
