Ukrainian historian called his ban on entering Poland ‘a slap in the face of all Ukraine'

The Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Volodymyr Viatrovych, was banned from entering Poland.

As Glavred news website reports, the historian himself considered this decision "a slap in the face of the whole Ukraine."

"It is not my personal problem. The problem is that the reason for banning my entry to Poland, in fact, is because of my demand, as an official, to our Polish partners to comply with Ukrainian legislation in Ukraine. That type of rationale is something totally unprecedented and scandalous in the history of world diplomacy. It is a slap in the face of all of Ukraine, not to me personally," he stated, commenting on the decision of the Poles.

He also expressed the hope that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine "or authorized state bodies" would respond “to such things."

"As for me personally, then, it is certainly frustrating, because I visit Poland at least several times a year, and I have many friends there. I often participate in various kinds of conferences. I also like to attend some cultural events in Poland. Therefore, for me personally it will be unpleasant," the historian added.

Earlier Viatrovych condemned the dismantling of the monument to the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA ) in the Polish town of Hruszowice. The historian also criticized the head of Polish Foreign Ministry, after he described the plan to ban individuals with "extreme anti-Polish" views from entering the country.
