Ukrainian military receives revamped Urahan multiple rocket launchers
The state corporation Shepetivsky Repair Plant has finished overhauling a batch of 220mm Urahan multiple rocket launchers (MRL) and has handed them over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian state defense concern Ukroboronprom, which includes the Shepetivsky Plant. The size of the batch was not stated.
The factory completely restored all the nodes and units of the Urahan MRLs, which passed quality control tests in the client’s presence.
The Urahan is one of the most long-range and powerful MRL systems in Ukraine’s armament. In 20 seconds it can fire a full salvo of 16 rockets, which can hit targets up to 35km away. Its missiles can be used to take out enemy personnel, unarmored and armored vehicles, anti-air defense systems and artillery, command posts, communication units and other objects.
Ukroboronprom reported that the Shepetivsky Plant is currently researching how to replace the Urahan’s basic chassis with a locally produced chassis, and how to upgrade its guidance systems.
The Minsk agreement prohibit the use of Urahans in the Donbas. Ukraine withdrew them from the combat in 2015.
