Polish Defense Minister: Poland no longer a second-class NATO member
Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak accompanied president Andrzej Duda during his visit to the USA where Duda and Donald Trump signed a military declaration which assumes the increase in the number of American soldiers stationed in Poland. Mariusz Blaszczak said in an interview with Polskie Radio that this declaration is "a success for Poland".
The minister reminded that this document which was signed by both presidents "adds to framework of cooperation that was set out in June" by the previous declaration.
"Six locations of the US troops [in Poland] will ensure their permanent presence, this is extremely important," he said.
“Poland is no longer a second-class member in NATO,” believes Mariusz Błaszczak. He emphasized that the "permanent presence" of US troops means that Poland becomes the country equal to other NATO members.
According to Blaszczak, the US troops in Poland would be a deterrent for any aggressor because “American troops are the strongest in the world”.
Blaszczak also pointed to "very warm relations between presidents Andrzej Duda and Donald Trump".
This, as the head of the Ministry of National Defense said, "a very good climate which translates into powerful benefits for Poland, for our security."
