    On 14 June, a court in Pavia, Italy, held one of the final sessions of the trial of Ukrainian National Guard commander Vitalii Markiv, who is accused of complicity in the death of the Italian photojournalist Andrea Rocchelli in the Donbas five years ago.

  • Ukrainian President Zelensky promises investments in Donbas

    President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Mariupol with a working visit, reports the website of the Ukrainian President.

    The President noted the need to develop the infrastructure of the Donbas with the help of foreign investors.

  • Prime Minister of Ukraine demands residents of Donbas be provided with drinking water

    Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman demanded that urgent measures be taken to provide drinking water to residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The decision was made based on the results of an extraordinary meeting of the State Commission for Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations,  reported the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

  • Ukraine detains former head of the Central Election Commission of Donetsk People's Republic

    The Prosecutor General's office and the Security Service of Ukraine detained the former head of the Central Election Commission of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Roman Lyagin, reported Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko on his Facebook page.

  • Russia starts issuing passports to residents of Donbas

    On Friday, June 14, Russia issued passports to the first 60 residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions that are not under Ukraine’s control, reports TASS News Agency.

    Two specialized migration offices were opened in the Rostov region to issue passports. The office where passports are issued for the residents of Donetsk region is located in Neklinovsky District. The other office for the residents of Luhansk region is located in Novoshakhtinsk.

  • Ukrainian parliament simplifies citizenship application process for foreign military volunteers in Donbas

    The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has simplified the process to apply for a Ukrainian citizenship for foreigners and stateless persons who defended Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability.

    Two hundred thirty deputies voted to adopt draft law No. 3433. The minimum required to pass is 226.

    The law allows foreign volunteers to bypass the requirement that one must have legally resided in Ukraine for 5 years and know the Ukrainian language.
