First 3300 visitors passed biometric checks at Ukrainian border
On January 1st 3,300 foreigners passed the through the biometric control system upon entering Ukraine; about 1,900 of them were citizens of the Russian Federation, as indicated by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service, Oleh Slobodyan, on 112 Ukraine.
"During the first 24 hours of operation of the biometric control system, more than 3,300 foreigners who are subject to this system crossed the border, almost 1,900 of them were Russian citizens." The biometric control system on the border of Ukraine was initiated on January 1, 2018.
Citizens of 70 states, including Russia, that are included in the risk category, underwent the obligatory fingerprinting control, having the five fingers of the right hand printed. However, other foreigners can also be required to be fingerprinted based on analysis and risk assessment.
While crossing the border upon exiting the country, they will be fingerprinted again and the data will be reconciled. In case of a mismatch, the person will be subjected to additional controls.
