European Parliament delegation to visit Ukraine to assess the progress of reforms
The delegation of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs will visit Ukraine to assess the progress of reforms and the use of EU financial assistance, the press office of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine reported.
Parliamentarians will also discuss the implementation of the association agreement between the EU and Ukraine in the light of the report of the European Parliament, which will be made public soon.
The delegates will also meet with Verkhovna Rada deputies, government representatives, opposition politicians, and representatives of civil society and the business community.
On March 26, Ukrainian Cabinet Minister Oleksandr Saienko called for broadening support for reforms in the country while he was at a meeting in London with representatives of the governments of donor countries for Ukraine.
The reform support groups in Ukraine began work in 2016. At first they worked in the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
After the successful completion of the pilot phase, additional groups were established in the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Regional Development, Building and Housing, Public Utilities and the State Road Agency.
Currently, about 150 people work in these institutions, which are engaged in the development and implementation of priority areas of sectorial reforms, as well as transformation of the state apparatus.
Donors supporting reforms in Ukraine include Germany, Denmark, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom, the USA, Finland, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan and the largest donor, the EU.
