Russian Black Sea Fleet conducts coastal missile exercises in Crimea
On October 23rd, the Black Sea Fleet in the annexed Crimea conducted missile strikes on a hypothetical enemy’s ships using the Bastion and Bal missile systems, as reported by the press service of the Defense Ministry of Russia.
The report notes that the deployment of the missile systems was in accordance with the plan for combat training of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
“As part of the exercises, the personnel executed the procedures for preparation and going to the position area, bringing the systems to the battle area, preparing to fire missiles, changing firing positions, practicing tactics to use the weapons in the event of air strikes, and using hypothetical enemy subversive and reconnaissance groups,” reported the press service of the Russian military department.
On October 7th, crews of the Black Sea Fleet’s Su-30SM fighter aircraft carried out bombing strikes on sea targets. On the same day, Russia’s Black Sea Fleet submarines Rostov-on-Don and Novorossiysk conducted Kalibr missile launches at ground and surface targets at Opuk and in the Black Sea.
On October 2nd, ships and submarines of the Black Sea Fleet of neighboring Russia began the planned military exercises in the annexed Crimea.
The General Staff of Ukraine considers the Russian military exercises in the annexed Crimea illegal.
