Chubarov calls on Kyiv and the West to adopt a unified position of the non-recognition of Russian elections in Crimea
The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov, believes that Ukraine and its Western partners should adopt a common position of the non-recognition of the elections of the Russian President, which the Kremlin plans to hold in the annexed Crimea, he said in an interview with Krym.Realii.
"If Putin rules Russia, then a situation must be created for him that is more threatening than surrender and the return of the Crimea. The explosion of Russia itself, collapse, rebellion can be the more threatening condition. The modern world, our partners together with Ukraine are able to lay the ground. The sanctions should be maximally strengthened, Russia and its rulers should be isolated from all processes occurring in the world and vitally important for Russia itself," Chubarov stated.
According to him, the elections of the President of the Russian Federation in the Crimea "should now encourage all of us to adopt a unified position of the non-recognition of these elections. As well as of the non-recognition of the status of the person who will be elected as President as a result of the elections in the Crimea. If the world imposed such a condition, Putin will come under complete personal isolation," the Head of the Majlis believes.
On 27 January 2018, Chubarov called on the Crimean people of all nationalities to boycott the Russian Presidential elections that will be held in the annexed peninsula on March 18th.
