IMF: Ukraine has proven itself capable of implementing reforms
The International Monetary Fund believes that Ukraine is able to implement the necessary reforms that would stimulate economic growth. This was said by the Resident Representative of the IMF in Ukraine, Goesta Ljungman, during the Ukrainian financial forum in Odessa, Ukrinform reports.
"What amazes me since I came to Ukraine is how much has been achieved over the past three years. In the historical context, it's a lot. I can say that we see, so to speak, the "appetite" for reforms. The last three years have proved that reforms are possible, and Ukraine is not currently in crisis management mode; the economy is being reborn," Ljungman said.
Earlier, the First Deputy Head of the International Monetary Fund, David Lipton said that the Ukrainian economy has every opportunity to move from stability to confident and rapid growth.
"Stabilization should be the foundation for restoring rapid growth. Ukraine obviously has the opportunity to move from stabilization to growth. We can say that Ukraine's economy is already growing but the country needs much faster growth rates to catch up with its European neighbors," he said.
