Kremlin: Meeting between Putin, Aliyev and Rouhani postponed
The meeting on the highest level between the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran – Vladimir Putin, Ilham Aliyev and Hassan Rouhani – has been postponed, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced at a press conference.
He said that the summit, which was supposed to take place this week, had been delayed “for technical reasons”. The Kremlin spokesperson did not specify a new date for the meeting.
The summit was scheduled for August 14 in Sochi, Russia. Putin and Aliyev were scheduled to have bilateral talks the following day.
The last trilateral summit between these countries was held in Baku in 2016, and ended with the signing of a joint declaration to further develop trilateral cooperation.
The last time the leaders met was in August 2018 at the Caspian Five summit, which was also attended by Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. The five countries signed a convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea.
