Kremlin: Putin launched four ballistic missiles during exercises of Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces
Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the exercises of the Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces and launched four missiles, as stated by the spokesperson of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, TASS reports.
"The Supreme Commander-in-Chief conducted the launch of four ballistic missiles," Peskov said. "During the drills, the interaction of the Strategic Missile Troops, nuclear submarines of the Northern and Pacific Fleets, and long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces was practiced."
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that, on October 26, it held a large-scale exercise, in which the Strategic Nuclear Forces of Russia were involved. Four ballistic missiles were launched hitting the targets at military training ranges in the territory of Russia.
An intercontinental ballistic missile Topol was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region and hit a target at the Kura test range on the Kamchatka peninsula. Two more missiles were launched from a nuclear submarine of the Pacific Fleet from the Sea of Okhotsk at targets located in the Chizha test range in the Arkhangelsk region. The fourth ballistic missile was launched from the Barents Sea by a nuclear submarine of the Northern Fleet. Its target was also located at the Kamchatka’s Kura test range.
The exercises involved ground, maritime, and air forces.
The long-range aircrafts Tu-160, Tu-95MS, and Tu-22M3, which took off from the Ukrainka (Amur region), Engels (Saratov region) and Shaykovka (Kaluga region) airfields also carried out military tasks. The missiles launched from the aicraft hit targets at the Kura, Pemboy (Komi Republic), and Terekta (Kazakhstan) training ranges.
