Moldavian Parliament appoints new ministers against President Dodon’s wishes

Speaker of the Moldavian Parliament Andrian Candu signed decrees on the appointment of two new ministers, reports Sputnik Moldova. Silvia Radu became the Minister of Health, Labor and Social Security while Nikolai Chubuk became the Minister of Agriculture.

“The oath-taking ceremony took place in the government residence. Decrees on the appointment of members to the Cabinet of Ministers came into force after signing,” the news agency reports.

Moldavian President Igor Dodon was against these appointments. He rejected twice the appointment of proposed candidates but by law he is allowed to decline candidates proposed by the government only once. This week, the Constitutional Court of Moldova, at the request of the Prime Minister, temporarily suspended Dodon from his presidential duties so the Speaker of Parliament could appoint ministers.

Earlier, Dodon was suspended three times from his position: twice because of the refusal to appoint new Ministers and once for refusing to sign the law against Russian propaganda.
