Moldovan opposition accuses Dodon of treason and promoting interests of Russia
The Moldovan opposition party, the Action and Solidarity Party, appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office to prosecute the country's President Igor Dodon “for promoting the interests of the Russian Federation and treason,” Ukrinform news agency reports.
“In breaking the provisions of the Constitution and the oath taken by the Moldovan president at the time of his inauguration, citizen Igor Dodon openly promotes the interests of another state - the Russian Federation. Congratulating the leader of the self-proclaimed Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublika Vadim Krasnoselsky “for a convincing victory” in the so-called election for the PMR President, his desire to reward the Transnistrian and Russian peacekeepers with state awards from Moldova, as well as his intention to participate in events to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the peacekeeping mission on the Dniester are gross violations of the office of the president as a guarantor of the Constitution as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state,” the legal suit states.
It is also mentions that “by his actions, President Igor Dodon contributes to the dissociation in society in ethnic, linguistic and religious ways.”
A letter with the same content was also sent to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
The administration of the President of Moldova has not commented on the opposition’s appeal.
As was reported, the President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, called the Moldovan government’s intention to raise the topic of the withdrawal of the Russian military from Transnistria during the UN General Assembly “another anti-Russian political move.”
