$1 billion remains in accounts belonging to Yanukovych and Azarov in Ukrainian banks
The Chairman of Oschadbank, Andriy Pyshnyy, stated in an interview with Livyi Bereh news agency that over 1 billion dollars remains in the accounts of the former President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, and the former Prime Minister, Mykola Azarov.
According to Pyshnyy, the accounts belonging to Azarov and Yanukovych have “quite significant sums.”
“Over $1.15 billion. Due to bank confidentiality, I cannot comment on some things. But I ask you to understand this. This is a strict legal requirement, and the law is above all. Some things, perhaps, I’d like to tell, but I can’t. The total sum of money is already known. It is both in cash and in securities,” the Chairman stated.
Previously, the Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine identified 42 non-resident companies associated with the former Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovych, and froze the $1.5 billion in the accounts of these companies in June 2014.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine at the time, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, repeatedly called on law enforcement officials to initiate the seizure of assets in favor of the state as quickly as possible, however, the assets have not yet been returned.
