According to Putin's financial disclosure, he makes less money than his press secretary
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin earned 8,858,432 rubles (157,243 USD) in 2016, as indicated on Putin's financial disclosure, published on April 14th on the Kremlin's website.
Compared to the previous year, the President's income declined by about 33,000 rubles (586 USD). In 2015, Putin's income amounted to 8,891,777 (157, 835 USD).
However, Putin's Press Secretary, Dmitry Peskov, in 2016 earned 12.8 million rubles (227,000 USD). The income of Peskov’s wife, ice skater Tatiana Navka, was ten times more than that - 120.8 million rubles (2.1 million USD). The Peskov family turned out to be the richest in the President’s Administration.
On April 14th the head of the Russian government, Dmitry Medvedev, also reported his income. According to his financial disclosure, the Prime Minister's income in 2016 amounted to 8.58 million rubles (152,300 USD). This is 181,000 rubles (3,200 USD) less than a year earlier; in 2015 Medvedev's income amounted to 8.76 million (155,500 USD). The Prime Minister's financial disclosure also states that his wife, Svetlana Medvedeva, did not earn any income in 2016.
The Anti-Corruption Fund of the opposition politician, Alexei Navalny, previously released a film about Medvedev’s "secret empire." Navalny’s supporters found several charitable foundations run by the relatives of the Prime Minister. These funds, in turn, own real estate and yachts, which Medvedev frequents. According to Navalny, 70 billion rubles (12 billion USD) have passed through the funds connected to Medvedev.
