Canada is ready to participate in the establishment of an Interior Ministry training center in Ukraine
At a meeting on Tuesday, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, and the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Roman Waschuk, discussed the prospect of the establishment of a training center of the Ministry of Internal affairs in Kyiv with support from Canada.
"The Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine assured Ukraine of Canada’s full support for the reforms of law enforcement agencies. In particular, he indicated Canada’s readiness to participate in the establishment of a training center in the town of Stare in the Kyiv region," the communications department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported after the meeting.
According to Avakov, the training center wil be used for training of the Ukrainian Special Forces, training of the personnel for UN peacekeeping missions, as well as joint exercises with foreign units.
Moreover, a specialized program is being developed for representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to attend courses at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa.
As was reported, Canada has proposed assistance to Ukraine in the form of training for law enforcement agencies during the visit of the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs to Canada.
