Chechen prosecutor's office: We found no extremism in Kadyrov's statements about Russian opposition
The Chechen Prosecutor's Office reported that it found no extremism in statements made by the head of the Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, concerning the non-systemic Russian opposition, according to the Prosecutor of the Chechen Republic, Sharpuddi Abdul-Kadyrov, as reported by RIA Novosti reported.
"Those who turned about the extremist manifestations in these expressions, we gave them the answer — we did not see any extremism in his speeches", the Prosecutor said.
In January, Kadyrov stated that non-systemic opposition groups are trying to destabilize the political situation in Russia, and “should be treated like enemies of the state, like traitors.”
"These people don't care about the fate of Russia and the Russian people. They play as directed by the games of Western intelligence agencies. They dance to their tune, and shamelessly try to trick us into thinking that they are worried about the future of our country when it's obvious that they have absolutely no interest in making our country strong and prosperous. I believe that these people should be indicted and punished for their subversive activities," the head of the republic said.
The Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, Maxim Reznik, wrote a letter to the Prosecutor General, in which he asked him to determine whether the statements made by Kadyrov contained extremism.
Russian President Vladimir Putin allows Kadyrov to control the predominantly Islamic region in the northern Caucasus in exchange for absolute loyalty. The head of the region has come under heavy criticism from the international press due to allegations of widespread corruption and human rights violations.
