Crimeans were asked not to switch on electrical appliances unless it’s absolutely necessary
The Head of the Krymenergo company, Viktor Plakida, asked Crimeans on the air of the Crimea 24 TV Channel, not to switch on electrical appliances in the morning and evening hours unless it’s absolute necessary, Krym.Realii reported.
“I would like to ask Crimeans to rationally use our resources. Try not to switch on additional electric appliances, which you don’t really need, in the morning and evening hours. This is the most important thing,” Plakida said.
According to him, if every 200th resident of the peninsula turns off one 100W bulb, it will free up 1MW. Plakida also noted that Crimeans actively use electricity from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. Also, the Prime Minister of the Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, mentioned the loss of 100MW in the annexed Crimea.
On January 3rd, 2017, the Kremlin-controlled Crimean Minister of Fuel and Energy, Svetlana Borodulina, stated that the generating capacities of “KrymTETS” will be upgraded and increased from the current 160MW to 400MW. Borodulina believes that a renovation of the generating capacities of KrymTETS is one of the Ministry’s priority issues over the next year.
On December 27th, 2016, it was announced that the work on the accession of the gas transportation system of the peninsula to the neighboring Russia was completed. The construction of the Kuban-Crimea main gas pipeline was completed ahead of schedule. The total length of the onshore section of the 720-mm diameter pipeline is 341 km, 16 kilometers of which are laid on the bottom of the Kerch Strait.
The gas pipeline is able to ensure the pumping of 2.1 billion cubic meters of gas with the potential to go up to 4 billion cubic meters annually with an increased pressure. The main pipeline will be able to fully ensure the need of the peninsula for natural gas and implement a program of a gasification of the settlements.
