First unmanned KrAZ Spartan armored vehicle tested in Ukraine
The first armored vehicle equipped with autopilot has been tested and is ready to join the ranks of the Ukrainian military equipment, reported the press-service of the manufacturer, Ukrainian factory KrAz.
The first Ukrainian unmanned vehicle was created from the KrAZ Spartan armored vehicle and equipped with autopilot. The autopilot sensors include thermal imaging with automatic targeting systems, all-sky camera, front and rear radar for detecting obstacles, a rangefinder and a capacitive sensor for human presence within a radius of 18 meters.
“The unmanned ‘KrAZ Spartan’ can be operated by a tablet, ‘smart glove’ or operator stations,” the press-service noted.
The presentation of the Ukrainian KrAZ Spartan unmanned vehicle will be held at the Arms and Security exhibition which will take place in Kyiv from October 11-14.
The head of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) Committee on National Security and Defense, Serhiy Pashynsky, recognized earlier that all enterprises of the military-industrial complex currently have no orders. According to him, the full potential of the military-industrial complex is a clearance sale of property inherited from the Soviet Union.
In this regard, the head of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Committee asked for things to be called by their proper names.
Pashynsky added that now Ukraine’s potential is limited to manufacturing of Dozor-B armored personnel carriers and Molot mortar launchers. “These are two types of weapons which we created,” he stressed. “And when we are talking about aircraft and aircraft carriers, we should remember that all sectors have been destroyed. There is zero potential. There’s no money.”
