Former Ukrainian PM Mykola Azarov summoned for questioning over criminal organization allegedly led by Yanukovych
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine has summoned the country's former Prime Minister, Mykola Azarov, for questioning on August 9th. The relevant summons was published on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the document, the former head of the Ukrainian government is summoned for questioning at 2:00 p.m. on August 9th, to participate in the conduct of procedural actions in the framework of criminal proceedings on embezzlement of property owned by PJSC Ukrnafta and PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya with a total worth of 2 billion USD, by a criminal organization under the leadership of ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
Azarov’s son, Oleksiy, was also summoned for questioning on the same criminal proceedings, scheduled two hours afterwards. Oleksiy Azarov was the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the 7th convocation.
Mykola Azarov headed the Ukrainian government from March, 2010 until the end of January, 2014. He left Ukraine after the Revolution of Dignity and now lives in Russia.
Ukrainian authorities have put Mykola Azarov on the international wanted list on suspicion of embezzlement of public funds.
