German Foreign Ministry: The conflict in Ukraine won’t be resolved quickly
Both the separatists and the Ukrainian military have violated the ceasefire agreement in the Donbas and it is not likely that the conflict will be resolved in the near future, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel, as reported by Reuters.
“It is very difficult to find a way out after so many years. Of course, we are trying, but it does not seem that we will have a short-term resolution of the crisis in the region,” said the head of MFA of Germany at a meeting of the European Council on Foreign Relations
Gabriel said he supports the efforts of the Normandy contact group (Ukraine, France, Germany, and Russia), however, according to him, the observers of the OSCE mission were not optimistic about the Donbas issue.
“I do not have good reports on this issue,” the German Minister stressed.
French President Emmanuel Macron declared his support for the Minsk process and announced the next Normandy group meeting.
