Italian Chamber of Deputies rejected draft resolution on the lifting of sanctions against Russia
In Italy the Chamber of Deputies rejected five draft resolutions calling for the lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation, as indicated by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Italy, Yevhen Perelygin, on his Facebook page.
"In anticipation of the positive results from the PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) session in Strasbourg, there is good news from Rome. According to a report by Matteo Renzi regarding the participation of Italy in the meeting of the EU Council, the Chamber of Deputies rejected five draft resolutions calling for the lifting of sanctions against Russia," Perelygin wrote.
The Ambassador noted that the adopted resolution stresses the need "to ensure the public stability of Ukraine." The resolution defines elements of the position of the Italian government in connection with the EU Council as of 20-21 October, 2016.
Earlier it was reported that Sweden has also proposed introducing sanctions against Russia due to the situation Syria.
